HENRIK BECKER SOLO SHOW

Colors, Emotions and a Touch of Anarchy:
Henrik Becker Celebrates Major SOLO SHOW in Angeln

More than 100 works across 400 square meters, live music, art to immerse yourself in, and an artist who lives the freedom of color: From September 27 to October 18, 2026, the association KUNST FÜR ANGELN will present the most extensive solo exhibition to date by Flensburg based artist Henrik Becker. Alongside his latest works, the exhibition will also feature selected pieces from the private collection of art collector and association chairwoman Roosen-Trinks.

The grand opening will take place on Sunday, September 27, 2026, at 2 p.m. as an Open House with live music, food & drinks. Admission is free.

Born in 1992, Henrik Becker belongs to a young generation of artists who have little concern for conventions. As a self-taught artist, he has developed a distinctive visual language somewhere between Abstract Expressionism, Pop Art and illustration. His large-scale canvases are powerful fields of color filled with dynamism and movement, while his works on paper offer intimate insights into his creative process.

His works emerge intuitively – using oil, acrylic, oil pastels, markers, graphite, spray paint and colored pencils. Colors collide, figures appear and disappear again, while thoughts and emotions flow freely across canvas and paper. Becker does not tell finished stories. Instead, he invites viewers to rediscover their own memories, dreams and experiences within his images.

“My aim is not to stand still, but to develop a visual language that evolves while retaining a recurring, distinctive tone,” Becker explains of his artistic approach.
At first glance, his works appear light-hearted and playful. Yet behind the vibrant colors there is often a subtle observation of social developments, interpersonal
relationships and the small contradictions of everyday life – sometimes melancholic, sometimes humorous, and always surprising.
His works often begin with sketches in which initial ideas take shape. On the large canvas, these ideas transform into free-flowing compositions full of energy. Perfection is of little interest to Becker. Much more important to him is the immediacy of the moment. His paintings should give the impression that they have only just been created – spontaneous, courageous and full of curiosity.

This openness also shapes his work with other people. Alongside his own artistic practice, Becker conducts workshops for children and adults, sharing his experimental approach to color and form. One week after the exhibition opening, he will lead a children’s workshop at Kunst für Angeln as part of the exhibition. The works created during the workshop will be presented in spring 2027 as part of another exhibition.

For collector Roosen-Trinks, discovering Becker’s art was a key moment. She first encountered his work five years ago and acquired one of his large-format paintings, which still holds a special place in her col lection today.
“Henrik Becker’s art is inspiring, conveys a positive atmosphere and stimulates the imagination. Art should trigger something, awaken emotions and touch people. His works achieve exactly that in a very special way. That is why it was clear to me: This extraordinary creativity deserves a major solo exhibition.”

The exhibition brings together more than 100 works from different periods of Becker’s artistic development, making visible the evolution of an artist who continually reinvents himself while remaining true to his distinctive style. Visitors can expect not a conventional gallery hanging, but a vibrant, color filled journey through Becker’s visual worlds – full of surprises, humor, emotion and dynamic energy.
