ELECTRIC LIGHTS – women in electronic music

On Sunday, September 28, 2025, the Roosen-Trinks Collection will open an extraordinary exhibition in cooperation with KUNST FÜR ANGELN: The internationally renowned photographer Katja Ruge will be showing her latest works under the title Electric Lights – Women in Electronic Music.

Photography meets pop culture

Katja Ruge is considered one of the most influential photographers on the German music scene. Her iconic portraits move between pop and subculture, aesthetics and intimacy. In her work we meet international artists such as Björk, Peaches, MIA, Helena Hauff, Âme or DJ Koze – captured in moments that reach far beyond the surface.

First exhibition in northern Germany

For the first time, Ruge’s works can be seen in the northernmost region of Germany, in Angeln/Schleswig-Holstein – a special moment for lovers of art and music.
The exhibition is accessible from September 28th to October 19th, 2025 at the WITTKIELHOF.

ABOUT Katja Ruge

Trained as a photo laboratory technician, later working as a music promoter, art director, DJ and producer, Katja Ruge brings a unique understanding of music and visual storytelling to her photography. Shaped by the club and rave culture of 90’s Manchester, her work combines technical skill with empathy and a fine sense of the personality of her protagonists.

Collector and curator Ingrid Roosen-Trinks: „We are proud to present this versatile artist with outstanding photo portraits of charismatic women from the electronic music scene here in the north! Katja Ruge’s photographs have already appeared in magazines such as Musikexpress, Rolling Stone, Groove and Missy Magazine, in book projects such as Fotoreportage23 and in successful series such as Ladyflash. She is currently also working as a curator for the MOMEM – Museum of Modern Electronic Music in Frankfurt/Main. She also prepares performances in planetariums in Hamburg and Berlin.
“We are very happy that Katja will be present in person at the opening on Sunday, 28.9.25!“
