The Kids are the stars

“The Kids are the Stars!” – was the title of Germany’s largest children’s art exhibition, which opened on September 28, 2025.
Kunst für Angeln e.V. displayed more than 400 creative masterpieces by children between the ages of 2 (!) and 14!

We have been showcasing the results of our loan programs to daycare centers and schools, as well as our artist-led workshops, in our autumn exhibition on 400 square meters at the WITTKIELHOF!

Curator was the artist Henrik Becker.

The Kids are the Stars – WHY CHILDREN’S ART DESERVES OUR FULL ATTENTION

Just in time for the opening of Germany’s largest children’s art exhibition on September 28, 2025, the non-profit association Kunst für Angeln e.V. published a special book: “The Kids are the Stars – Why Children’s Art Deserves Our Full Attention.”
The publication is dedicated to the profound significance of children’s creativity and vividly illustrates why it is essential to give children early, unrestricted access to artistic expression and space for their imagination.

The book movingly combines works by young artists from the age of 3 with well-founded contributions from the fields of art education and psychology, as well as commentaries from artists, parents, and children. It demonstrates that children’s art is not just cute – it is bold, free, original, often surprising, and a mirror of our society seen through the eyes of the youngest.

“Children need spaces where they can experiment, create, and dream without judgment. Creativity is not a luxury – it is a basic human need,” said Ingrid Roosen-Trinks, initiator of the book project and board member of Kunst für Angeln e.V.

The release of “The Kids are the Stars” coincided with the opening of Germany’s largest children’s art exhibition, which shares the same title and showcases hundreds of works by young talents aged 3 to 14. The goal of the exhibition was to give children’s creative voices a public platform and to reinvigorate the social discourse on aesthetic education and creative self-expression.

“The Kids are the Stars” is an extraordinary art book that shows what happens when children become true artists.

Whether artists, collectors or educators – this book inspires anyone who loves the imagination and expressive power of children.

The works – paintings, sculptures and installations by children aged three to eleven – surprise with vibrant colors, creativity and emotion. The young artists were inspired by original works of internationally renowned artists, who contributed their art and ideas through workshops and loans.

The result: A fascinating art book full of energy, joy of life and creativity – created as part of Germany’s largest exhibition of children’s artwork, initiated by the association Kunst für Angeln in Schleswig-Holstein.
